A message from our CEO and Board Chair
Dear Friends,
Thank you for making 2023 an incredible year–our students and the families championing their dreams, our school and community partners working tirelessly to support them, the policymakers advancing equitable financial aid systems, and our amazing supporters. We’re excited to celebrate our students, highlight recent accomplishments, and share how our collective work impacted over 1.5 million young people!
Indeed, this year also challenged the pursuit of our mission. From the end of race-conscious admissions and the new FAFSA’s much-delayed rollout–the most significant change to financial aid in 40 years–to the continued escalation of college costs and lack of clear communication about these costs to families, uAspire's work has never been more critical.
With your help, our aspiration is to improve the economic mobility of underrepresented students by increasing access to financial aid and postsecondary pathways. By 2031, most jobs in the United States will require some postsecondary education, yet only 20% of students from under-resourced high schools complete a postsecondary degree. Together, we’re changing this–uAspire students are three times more likely to graduate college than their peers.
Applying 39 years of experience, we're deepening and expanding our impact through four program areas, combining our direct student service with counselor training, policy, and consulting innovations that drive lasting system change. We're determined to create a world where students from underrepresented communities can unlock the economic power of a postsecondary education that supports their bright, fulfilling futures.
