Andrea is a College Affordability Advisor who supports postsecondary students from the Bay Area. In her role she guides students through the financial aid process and provides support with financing an affordable path through college. Prior to this role, Andrea worked with a college-success initiative that built a college going culture in her community. She provided college and financial aid application advising to high school students through individualized student meetings and workshops. Andrea also built college comprehension for freshman high school students by addressing barriers to college access, guiding college/career focused conversations, and cultivating a college-going network. Andrea graduated from San Francisco State University with a B.A. in Psychology. I chose to join uAspire because of their commitment to improve the economic mobility of underrepresented students like myself. As a first generation student, I have experienced many of the same structural and financial barriers that other students are facing today. Everyday I able to take my lived experiences and knowledge and use it to support students through their postsecondary journey. I want to empower them and make them know that they deserve their place in high education regardless of their background.
