Joshua A Etienne
Vice President of Advising
As the Vice President of Advising, Josh supports regional advising managers and advisors supporting students through the financial aid process. He also serves as a thought partner in setting the strategy for future iterations and innovative ideas for uAspire advising. Josh is focused on ensuring that uAspire’s internal core and cuatomized advising models are operating efficiently and at the highest level of quality and fidelity based on best practices to meet the emerging needs of students and families. In collaboration with the chief impact officer, he crafts and guides the strategic vision of the advising department, aligned to uAspire’s broader organizational goals and focus on economic mobility.
Before joining uAspire, Josh served as an Massachusetts Promise Fellow at the Old Colony YMCA Social Services Division in Brockton, MA. He later worked as a program assistant within Northeastern University’s Center of Community Service. Josh obtained his B.A. from Morehouse College in Atlanta, GA, majoring in political science with concentrations in international studies and economics. During his time at Morehouse, Josh was an Oprah Winfrey Scholar and a member of the model United Nations team.
As a first-generation college graduate, I had to overcome the hurdles that college affordability presents for many American households. As a result of this experience, I developed a passion for education equity. I came to uAspire because we empower students to make sound decisions about financial aid that enable them to rise above the powder keg that is student debt.
